About the event
In this first class in the series, we'll talk about the basics of mental illness, what causes it, and the negative effects of stigma. We’ll also discuss and dismantle myths and legends built around mental illness, and learn about how early detection and treatment can make mental illness much more manageable.
Mental Illness is a rising crisis in the United States. Our young people, already stressed by worries of their future and ability to prosper, social media bullying, fears of living on a dying planet, and more, found themselves pushed deeper into fear of their future during the COVID-19 shutdown. Add to that the scourge of stigma that encourages them to stay silent and live in denial of any developing illness.
Lunch will be served at 1pm during our networking hour. Children and youth ages 12 and up are welcome to attend this class, and we’ll have free childcare available for younger children during that time.
